Your Auntie Pauline has a Lego set,
collected over years. She only buys
the white blocks and insists they’re all one size.
She files the bumps off so you kids don’t get
ideas. So don’t get any. Just sit tight.
We’ve never known what makes your auntie tick.
Despite what neighbours say, she’s not unkind—
it’s true when they call round she draws the blind—
but she’s the one who suffers, poor old stick.
We’ll leave, but she’s stuck there, night after night.
